Quality Masonry Cleaning, From Masonry Magazine

START A JOB WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT HOW TO CLEAN IT!

Your Kem-O-Kleen washer will clean virtually any job you've got and do it right the first time.  If you have a cleaning problem,   Kem-O-Kleen has the answer.

The cleaning done on both new and restoration masonry is unequaled in speed and quality.  Without exception, your Kem-O-Kleen washer will out-clean any other method 2 to 1.  A good brick cleaner can clean 800 to 1000 square feet per day.  With a Kem-O-Kleen machine simultaneously applying pressurized hot water and acid or cleaning chemical you will expect one man to average 2500 to 3500 square feet in the same time.  If your labor rate is $15.00 per hour, you will save eight cents per foot!  And more if your rates are higher or you are sharing your hard-earned profits with a cleaning contractor.  Make this profit advantage work for you.  Take the bidding edge.  Lower costs mean more jobs and more profit.  Your machine will pay for itself after you have cleaned only 145,000 square feet.  And days cut from the job mean faster payment for you.

Other pressure washer companies may try to sell their machines to clean masonry.  They use too much water and too much pressure.  Any one of these can damage the surface, blow out joints and cause other problems, like efflorescence.  Like other users have done, you will be able to demonstrate to architects that mechanized cleaning with your Kem-O-Kleen gives them a better job and will be done without damaging your work. Our machines are designed and built from the ground up specifically to clean brick and block and to handle the chemicals, acids, and sealers that you use.  No other washer is. In short, Kem-O-Kleen gives you the speed, quality, flexibility and economy that you need.  Call us today and we will demonstrate how you will get the edge with your Kem-O-Kleen masonry washer.

RESTORATION CLEANING

Imagine the advantage of using a Hudson-type sprayer with a 20 gallon capacity and a 200 foot hose.  And you don't have to walk back to the washer when you want to change from chemical application to high pressure water or from water to chemical.  This is the Kem-O-Kleen advantage!  The complete cleaning operation is done with one Kem-O-Kleen machine and wand.

Kem-O-Kleen washers utilize a unique,  patented pressurized acid and chemical induction system with no chemical injector or pump to be destroyed by acids or other cleaning chemicals.  Because of the flexibility of the system, your Kem-O-Kleen can be used for restoration cleaning, new masonry cleaning, applying waterproofing and sealing materials, cleaning concrete surfaces and forms, and general cleaning jobs.  The on-board chemical tank eliminates the need for Hudson-type sprayers and their frequent filling and eliminates the use of buckets and brushes.

In operation, the compressor pressurizes the chemical tank (either 8, 20, or 30 gallons, depending on the model) to the selected working pressure.  The chemical is "pushed" under pressure through a separate hose to the spray wand.  The operator has an on/off valve and a metering valve on the wand to allow precise control over the amount of chemical being applied.  Chemicals, including acid based cleaners, can be applied with or without water, at exactly the manufacturer's recommended concentration..  When applying with water, as is typical with new masonry cleaning, the chemical is being applied at the full pressure of the unit, up to 3000- psi.  You do not need to turn down the water pressure to draw the chemical as you do with standard washers.  The only limiting factor in the distance the operator can work from the chemical supply is the length of the hose being used.  A 200 foot hose is typical.

In normal restoration cleaning, the acid is applied through a plastic spray nozzle at the end of the spray wand.  After covering an area with cleaner, the operator rinses the area with the pressurized water.  As he is rinsing, if a spot needs to have chemical reapplied, he just applies the chemical and goes on rinsing the rest of the area.  Because the large supply tank requires less frequent filling, and the fact that you are eliminating going back and forth between chemical sprayers and water sprayers, a man can save wasted steps and clean more area per day.  In most cases he can double his production!

Kem-O-Kleen machines are designed to handle all types of acids and chemicals used in new and restoration masonry cleaning.  That statement cannot be made about any other brand of washers.  In short, there is no more flexible pressure washer system for all of your washing needs.  Let us manufacture one for  you!

ACID ETCHING PRECAST CONCRETE

The popular new finish for architectural prestress and precast concrete is a light aggregate exposure or an even lighter acid etch.  This look is easily and quickly achieved with a Kem-O-Kleen acid etching machine. Kem-O-Kleen machines are unique in their capability to simultaneously apply hot water and acid under high pressure.  This makes the acid etching process much faster, more consistent, and economical.  Acid etching does the job without the uneven swirls and pitted, dull aggregate that will occur with light sand blasting.  It also makes etching less expensive than sand blasting.  You may have seen the acid etched samples in the PCI/APA sponsored "Color and Texture Selection Guide."  All of the acid etched samples were done with Kem-O-Kleen machines.

When retardant cannot give you the light, consistent exposure that is needed, a Kem-O-Kleen machine will.  No more expensive pieces ruined by uneven exposure and efflorescence stains!  Instead you will have the exact exposure and color that the designer is looking for.  You will not be relying on guess work to decide how long to leave acid on a piece and the acid will be completely rinsed off.  Many producers use their Kem-O-Kleen machines to acid wash every piece they ship or install, especially after sand blasting or removing retardant, to add the distinctive clean sparkle and luster that etching gives.

When a retardant can be used, the washer washes it away, using just water, and then the hot water/acid mix will remove the hard spots and residuals while polishing the aggregate.  You will be able to save pieces which, in the past, would have been scrapped because of hard spots.  Surfaces can also be roughed for painting and to make them less slippery.

You will get years of good service from your Kem-O-Kleen washer.  One of our  customers owns 15 machines, some over 16 years old, some much newer, but all still at work.  Over 125 precast producers in the U.S. and Canada rely on Kem-O-Kleen machines to give them the quality finish their customers are looking for.
